Hello! My name is Windy Lane and I am currently the choreographer for this production of White Christmas which premiers at the beginning of December, 2011. This is a show I have been waiting my whole life to choreograph as it is my family’s all-time favorite Christmas movie and also involves a large amount of major choreography. Dance has been my passion since the age of 5 and this particular show includes so many of my favorite styles of dance including jazz, tap, beautiful duets and some theatrical large group numbers. This is my first opportunity to work with this group of students at the Artios Academies in Gwinnett and what an incredible experience it has been so far. We’ve been rehearsing choreography for about a month now and I am thrilled with the progress each of the groups are making. So far, we’ve worked on The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing which is that beautiful dancing duet between Judy Haynes and Phil Davis (two of the lead characters), as well a couple of up tempo songs called I Love a Piano (a tap dance) and Blue Skies (a very fun and smooth jazz dance). Oh, and who can forget that lovable “Sisters” routine which is also done! It’s been so fun to see this cast throw themselves into styles of choreography they’ve never done before and come alive when they get something right. My excitement grows every week watching their progress and seeing glimpses of what an incredible show this is going to be. These students LOVE theater and LOVE to learn. I can’t wait!
This last Tuesday, I spent the even rehearsal working with Bob, Phil, and Martha (Noah, Chris, and Jordan) and we had a really fun time. We blocked two simple songs and they seemed to take to them very well. During the rehearsal, they had a mini lesson in blocking and stage pictures and seemed to enjoy it. I’m hoping the things we worked on stick with the students and that they had as much fun as I did.
We are so blessed to have such wonderful families involved with this production. We are working together to make this production of “White Christmas” both a community event within the Artios community and a community event in the Atlanta area.
Below, I have listed our Student Production Team without whom this production would not be possible. In addition, I have also listed the Parent Production Committees with an asterix appearing beside the name committee chairperson.

We have completed the casting process for the Artios of Gwinnett production of White Christmas The Musical…..and WOW…..it is a very strong cast and a very deep cast. SO, the casting process was quite extensive but it is now complete. Today the cast and artistic team met for a read-through and had such a great time becoming more familiar with the script and the amazing Irving Berlin tunes that are part of this stage production. August 23rd is the our next rehearsal and our first three weeks are focused on vocal music and choreography. Looking forward to seeing amazing progress! Pictures and videos to come!
Saturday was our first round of auditions with 25 excited and energetic cast members auditioning for a variety of singing, dancing and acting roles. Call backs will be held on Monday, August 15th and the cast announced shortly thereafter.
